If you admit that something bad, unpleasant, or embarrassing is true, then you agree – usually unwillingly – that it is true. So, we often use this word to say that we “admit we made a mistake.” No one really wants to admit they made a mistake, but it’s generally better to confess than let the other person believe something that isn’t true.
