============================

There are a few different ways to use receive. Firstly, when you receive something, you get it after someone gives it to you or sends it to you. When you are just speaking in general conversation, it is more common to use “get” rather than “receive” but they are both correct.

Secondly, when you receive a guest or visitor, you greet them. This is a formal use! For example, the “Emperor was well enough to receive guests again.”

Thirdly, you can use receive to say that something happened to a person. For example, they got injured. “She suffered whiplash and other injuries received in a car crash.”
