☆  canned  缶詰の

It’s interesting, but as with anything health-related, you can find “experts” who say canned foods are good to eat, and “experts” who say we shouldn’t eat canned foods, and instead choose fresh or frozen.

When canned foods are made, they are processed, sealed in the can, then heated to kill bacteria and to prevent the food from going bad. Interestingly, there are some foods that become even better for us after they have been canned. For example, apparently, when tomatoes and corn are heated they release more antioxidants, so eating canned tomatoes or canned corn can be a good source of antioxidants.

How about in Japan? Are canned foods popular or not really?
