I always thought I ate quite healthily, and a good mix of all the recommended five food groups. In Australia, unfortunately, we don’t have the “ningen-doc” system that you have in Japan, so if you want to check your health, you need to be proactive about it, and ask your doctor to do it.
So, I did and the blood tests showed my iron as a bit too low. My doctor recommended eating more red meat. Now, I’m not a vegetarian, but I also try not to eat a lot of meat. I think that too much meat is not really a well-balanced diet. My doctor recommended red meat at least three times a week… that seems a like a lot! And I guess he is not talking about hamburgers, either!! Ha ha.
Is your diet well-balanced? Do you think you are eating enough of each of the recommended foods?
