If you are attentive, you are paying close attention to what is being said or done. Today’s word could be considered to be the opposite of yesterday’s word: distracted. If you are attentive you are paying attention, if you are distracted you are not paying attention. In fact, the actual opposite of attentive is “inattentive.” However, this is a great example of a way to increase your vocabulary easily – adding the prefix “in” gives you a new word.
And of course, learning other words with similar meanings is a good idea too, so here are some that are similar in meaning to attentive:

careful
concentrating
mindful
observant
