============================
We had some visitors from Japan yesterday! They are visiting their daughter who lives here and is a friend of mine, so they also came to my house. I have met them before but it’s been a long time since then. I was hoping that I’d made a good impression and that they would want to see me again when they next visited. Luckily they did, so I must have made a reasonable impression.
My Japanese ability is fine for everyday situations, but I’m not very good with polite Japanese… so I think when I talk to older people I probably give the impression of being a bit rude! I think that is one of the great things about English compared to Japanese: there really isn’t any special version or polite version of English that you should use in certain situations. Your smile and friendly intonation is really the most important thing to make a good impression. Do you agree?
Bye,
