If you make an assumption that something is true then you accept that it is true, often without any actual proof. Here are some examples:
The research failed because it was based on the assumption that men and women think alike.
But what if your assumption is wrong?
His assumption was not based on valid evidence.
If “assumption” is hard to remember, you can also use these words to mean the same thing: belief, guess, hypothesis.
When learning new words if you learn words with similar meanings then you’ll increase your vocabulary a lot more easily.
