The “consequence” of something is the effect or result of it. For example, “He acts like he doesn’t care about the consequences.” Or “The economic crisis is going to have tremendous consequences for all of us.”
And just like yesterday’s word, it is often used in an idiom to warn people to be more careful. If you tell someone they must “face/suffer the consequences” you are warning them that something unpleasant will happen if they don’t stop behaving in a certain way. This could be something serious or lighthearted. For example,
If climate changes continue, we will all suffer the consequences.
If you don’t clean your room, you will have to face the consequences!
