A person who is compassionate shows feelings of sympathy and concern for other people. A compassionate person is able to understand another person’s suffering and sympathize with them. Here are some sentence examples:
My father was a deeply compassionate man.
She has a wise, compassionate face.
Do you know what the opposite of compassionate is? Unfortunately there are many words!! For example: unfeeling, cold, cruel, inhumane, mean, uncaring, unfriendly, unkind, unsympathetic, intolerant, and hateful. Wow! That’s a lot of words. Do you think this means humans are less compassionate and more unkind? I hope not!
