If something is a statement it clearly expresses an opinion or idea that you have. Here are some examples:
After hearing Jonathon’s statement I wasn’t sure what to do.
Her statement was delivered unemotionally.
That sounds more like a statement than a question…
It is also often used when someone communicates their idea or opinion without using words. In this situation, we usually use the idiom, “make a statement.” For example:
The décor in the building makes a statement about the company.
This recipe makes a statement-food is fun!
