☆ impulse はずみ
============================
An impulse is a sudden desire to do something. For example, “She resisted the impulse to smile.” Or “He was unable to resist the impulse to confide in her.” You can also use this word with “on” as in “on impulse”. If you do something on impulse, you suddenly decide to do it without planning it. “He always acts on impulse.” “After lunch, she decided on impulse to take a bath.”
And although today’s word is a noun, there is one situation where it is used as an adjective, and that is “impulse buy”. Do you know this word? An impulse buy is when you decide to buy something when you see it, although you hadn’t planned to buy it. “The sofa was an impulse buy.” Have you ever bought anything that was an impulse buy?
