☆ striking 著しい
============================
We talked a little about this word the other day. It can also mean “unusual” and is generally used when you want to say that something is unusual in a positive way. For example, “She was a striking young woman with long dark hair.” When you use “striking” in this way, it could also mean “stunning” or “attractive”.
However, today’s meaning is more like “unusual” or “noticeable”. “She has a striking resemblance to her mother.” Again, you can say that “she has striking good looks” but this could mean that she is attractive in an unusual way – not the usually magazine cover beautiful.
I hope this was a striking month of new words for you! Looking forward to seeing you in June!
Bye,
Chris
