Today’s word has a few different uses. The meaning today is for “development” in size, or wealth, or importance. For example:
Japan had enormous economic growth during the eighties.
This industry is experiencing high growth rates.
The quick growth in popularity of the pop band surprised even their manager.
Another common use is when you want to talk about growth in a person or an animal or a plant, you can use this word to talk about the increase in their physical size and development.
My son experienced a period of growth over the summer and now none of his clothes fit!
Now that spring is here, you can see a lot of new plant growth.
Children go through periods of emotional and intellectual growth as they get older.
