Do you know Nick Cave? He is an Australian musician, he was most famous in the 80’s and 90’s, but his band’s music was kind of heavy, so I don’t know that he was all that famous around the world. He had a song called, “Are You the One that I’ve Been Waiting For?”
In that song, one of the lyrics is:
“There is a man who spoke wonders though I’ve never met him,
He said, “He who seeks finds and who knocks will be let in.””
As you know, “seek” is another word for “search”, and so I always used to sing this song incorrectly, I always said, “Search and you will find it.” But I never knew why I was singing the song incorrectly because he clearly says “seek”.
So, today I was looking for quotes about “search” and I found the original that Nick Cave is quoting in his song. Now I know why I was singing the song wrong, the original quote is something I learned as a child… Do you know it? This is it:
“So I say to you, ask and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.”
The funny thing is that this actually sounds like a quote from a book on the Law of Attraction, I think! Don’t you agree? But this is actually from the Bible. It’s funny what you can find when you search on the Internet!
Bye,
Chris
