☆ optimist 楽天家
============================
When I was looking at the ALC online dictionary, I found this joke using the word “Optimist”. “An optimist is a 90-year-old man who marries a 20-year-old woman and buys a house near a school.” (楽天家というものは、20歳の女性と結婚し、学校の近くに家を買うような90歳の老人のことである。) I’ve never heard that joke before but it was pretty funny! I guess this old man is a true optimist and planning to live a lot longer. Another quote that I like is by Eric Sevareid, a US journalist (1912-1992) and he often reported on wars around the world. He said, “I’m sort of a pessimist about tomorrow and an optimist about the day after tomorrow.”
There are other phrases using this word that are worth learning. Here are some:
Born optimist
card-carrying optimist
eternal optimist
naïve optimist
Do you know any others?
Bye,
