It’s not very often that I find a mistake in the Eigo Techo
AFTER it has been printed… before it goes to print, of course,
we find the errors and fix them, but this time…Oops!! This week’s words
are NOUNS not verbs. So if it were a noun, what would
it be? Do you know how to change this word into a noun?

That’s right, the noun is “reduction” (減少). When you add “tion”
to a verb, you can change it into a noun, which indicates “in the
state of being”.

They reduced the amount of clutter they have.
There was a reduction in the amount of clutter they had.
