============================

Today’s word is written as being used with “with” but in fact,
it can also be used with “by”, however, when used with “by”
we usually talk about “by a feeling of”. Here are some example
sentences:

The night before the test, I was overcome with fear!
The night before the test, I was overcome by a feeling of fear!

I’m overcome with sadness.
I’m overcome by a feeling of sadness.

You can also use it without “with” or “by” in some cases such as this:

A feeling of happiness overcame him.
A happiness overcame him.

Bye,
Chris

しかし“by”の場合は、“by a feeling of”と言うことが多いでしょう。
例文:

The night before the test, I was overcome with a fear!
The night before the test, I was overcome by a feeling of fear!

I’m overcome with sadness.
I’m overcome by a feeling of sadness.

A feeling of happiness overcame him.
A happiness overcame him.
