On the topic of passion, some people are very passionate about
volunteering and raising money for charities. I read an interesting
story about an American woman who works as a model. In her spare
time she wanted to raise money for AIDS in Africa. However when
she visited Africa and spoke to the people who lived there, they said
that they need clean water.

So, instead of raising money to treat AIDS, she and a friend set up
an NPO that raises money for helping villages in Africa build and learn
how to maintain water wells. The name of her NPO is EPIC, which in
English means something large and impressive. And in her NPO’s case,
it stands for “Everyday People Initiating Change”. Isn’t that a great name!
Seems like she has found her passion and a great name for it. 🙂

情熱といえば、ボランティアやチャリティーへの募金に熱心な人も多くいます。
先日、モデルをしているアメリカ人女性について書かれた記事を読みました。
彼女は、空いた時間にはアフリカのエイズのために募金をしたいということでした。
そこでアフリカに行って現地の人と話をしてみると、現地ではきれいな水が必要だったのです。

そこで彼女は、エイズのための募金を、アフリカの村で井戸を作り、維持していくことを教えるというNPOを友人と一緒に立ち上げました。
NPOの名称はEPICと言い、これは英語で壮大で素晴らしいという意味を持ちます。
また、“Everyday People Initiating Change (普通の人が変化を起こす)”の頭文字でもあります。
素敵ですね！
彼女は自分の情熱と、素晴らしいネーミングをみつけたようですね。
