☆ chance　チャンス

I talked earlier in the month about the chance that led me to find my
passion. In fact it was a lot of “chance” happenings that led me to Japan, really,
not just one. Firstly in high school my teacher recommended me for a homestay
program in Japan. I was studying French at the time, but I was chosen to go
to Japan!

Then when I was in university, I bumped into an old friend, by chance, who
had just come back from Japan, and she recommended me to go on a working
holiday to Japan. Then while I was on the working holiday I met another Australian
who gave me information about teaching in Japan. I didn’t do anything about it, but
when I returned to Australia I saw an advertisement in the newspaper for the same
company, by chance (I never usually read the newspaper!) And so on, I could list
many other chances… how about you what chances have you had in your life? Did
you follow them or ignore them?

今月の初めに、私が自分の情熱をみつけることになったチャンスについてお話をしました。
実際、私を日本に導いたチャンスとなる出来事は、ひとつではなくたくさんありました。
まず高校生の時には、先生に日本へのホームステイを勧められました。
その当時はフランス語を勉強していたのですが、日本に行くように選ばれたのです！

そして大学時代には、偶然日本から帰ってきたばかりだという旧友に会いました。
そして彼女に、ワーキングホリデイで日本に行くように勧められたのです。
その後ワーキングホリデイで日本に滞在している時に、オーストラリア人の知り合いに日本で英語を教える情報を教えてもらいました。
その時は何もしませんでしたが、オーストラリアへ帰国してから、偶然教えてもらった情報の会社が載った新聞を目にしたのです(普段は新聞など読まないのに！)。
他にも、チャンスとなる出来事はたくさんありました。
