A difficulty is a problem. For example, although we have a lot of information
available on the internet these days, sometimes there is “a difficulty of
getting accurate information”. And sometimes we talk about a country that is
in trouble, like this, “the country is facing great economic difficulties.”

You can also use this word to talk about something that you have difficulty doing.
For example, if you like to sleep in during winter, “I have difficulty getting up
on winter mornings because it’s so cold.” Or, “I had difficulty walking the day
after my marathon.”

“Difficulty(困難)”は、問題のことです。
例えば、最近ではインターネットで様々な情報を得ることが出来ますが、時には“正確な情報を得る難しさ”もあります。
また、問題を抱えている国について話す時には“その国は経済的に、大変な困難に直面している”などと言います。

また、何かをするのが大変に感じる、という時にも使います。
例えば、冬にゆっくり寝るのが好きな人は、
“I have difficulty getting up on winter mornings because it’s so cold. ”
(冬は寒くて起きるのが大変だ)
と言えるでしょう。
また、
“I had difficulty walking the day after my marathon. ”
(マラソンの翌日は歩くのが困難だった)
などとも言います。
