☆ shake someone’s hand　～と握手をする

After living in Japan for such a long time, it sometimes feel awkward
when I meet foreigners – I never know if I should shake their hand or
not! If the other person is a woman, and the situation is a casual one,
then I wouldn’t shake hands. However, if the situation was a business
setting, then I would.

However, if the other person was a man, then I would probably shake
hands with them regardless of the situation… hmmm it’s difficult to
really know, I guess it’s easiest to decide in the moment, right?!

The tradition of bowing in Japan, is so much easier! Although, there
are levels of politeness for bowing, too, right? How do you know
what kind of bow you should do?!

日本に長く住んでいると、外国人に会うとばつが悪い感じがします。
握手をするべきかどうか迷ってしまうからです。
相手が女性で、カジュアルな状況だったら握手はしません。
しかしビジネスの場面だったら握手をしますね。

相手が男性だったら、多分どんな状況でも握手をするでしょう。
ふーむ…何が正しいのかの判断はとても難しいです。
その時その時で判断するのが良いのかな。

日本の伝統であるお辞儀は、ずっと分かりやすいですね！
でも、お時儀も丁寧さの度合いがあるのですよね？
どのようなお辞儀をするか、どう判断しますか？
