Have you ever tried reading English poetry? For me, poetry is often
hard to understand, so I guess it would be even harder as a non-native
speaker! However, whenever I hear the word “gather” it reminds me of the
poem by Robert Herrick, which is of the “Carpe Diem” (Seize the Day)
genre: reminding us to live in the present, and not to live in the past!

Do you know it? It’s very simple and short:

Gather ye rosebuds while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.

英語の詩は、私にとっても理解が難しいものが多いので、ネイティブでない人にとっては本当に難解でしょうね！
しかし、この“gather”という言葉を見ると“カルペ・ディエム(＝今を楽しむ)”のRobert Herrickの詩を思い出します。
これは過去に生きるのではなく、今を生きるべきだということを再認識させてくれますね。

とても短くてシンプルな詩です：

時は矢のように過ぎるのだから
