Yesterday we talked about asking people, “What’s your job?”
Of course, you would never ask someone “What’s your pay?”
because that would just be rude!! I’m sure it would be rude
in Japan, too. Right?

But you could ask a similar question, just like yesterday, in order
to get a conversation started. However, just asking about “What’s
your perfect pay?” would be strange, so you’d need to have a
follow up question. For example:

What would be your ideal pay, and how would you use it?
Or
What’s your perfect pay, and what would you spend it on?

How would you answer those questions?

きのうは“仕事は何ですか？”と質問することについてお話ししましたね。
しかし、“お給料はいくらですか？”と訪ねることはありません。
失礼にあたりますからね！
日本でも、失礼なことですよね？

しかし昨日と同じように、似たような質問をすることで会話の糸口となることがあります。
といっても、いきなり“あなたにとって完璧なお給料はいくらですか？”と質問するのも妙ですので、それに続く質問を用意したら良いですね。
例えば：

What would be your ideal pay, and how would you use it?
(あなたの理想のお給料はいくらですか？それはどのように使いますか？)

What’s your perfect pay, and what would you spend it on?
(あなたにとって完璧なお給料はいくらですか？そしてその使い道は？)

あなたは、これらの質問にどのように答えますか？
