☆ satisfy 　満足させる

In one of my son’s picture books, the story is about a young boy who
wants to be a famous soccer player, he says, “I’m going to be very, very rich
and satisfy my every whim.”

Reading this book always makes me smile, because although his dream sounds
very big, the picture is of him looking very satisfied as he carries one goldfish in a bag
out of the pet store. For me to “satisfy my every whim” I would need a lot more than
a goldfish!! Ha ha, no wonder children are always so happy – their whims are easily
satisfied. 🙂

息子の絵本にこんなものがあります。
有名なサッカー選手を夢見る少年がこう言うのです。
“すごく、すごくお金持ちになって、思い付きを全部満たすんだ！”と。

この本を読む度に微笑ましく思うのは、少年は大きな夢を見ているようですが、本にはペットショップから金魚を一匹持ちかえる絵が描かれているからです。
私の“思い付きを満足させる”には、金魚一匹では足りませんね！
ハハハ、こども達がいつも幸せそうなわけですよね。
彼らの思い付きは、簡単に満足させることが出来るのですから。
