☆ exchange やりとりする

============================

Today’s word, “exchange” could also be translated as “communicate”.
Often we refer to a short conversation – especially an angry one – as an
“exchange”. For example:

There was a bitter exchange between my boss and coworker last week.

However, I’m sure you know this is a noun, not a verb. It’s much harder to
use as a verb. Even for me. 🙂 When it is used as a verb, it is not so much
about words, but non-verbal communication such as glances or smiles. For
example:

The two men exchanged glances.
They exchanged a quick smile before they entered the room.

Can you make a sentence with this as either a noun or a verb?

今日の言葉「exchange」は、「伝達をする」とも訳せます。
短い、時には怒りを伝えるような会話を「exchange」ということが多いですね。

例:
There was a bitter exchange between my boss and coworker last week.
(先週、上司と同僚の間で苦いやりとりがあった)

この場合、動詞ではなく名詞ということはお分かりですよね?
動詞で使うのは、私ですら難しいのですよ!
動詞として使われる時は、言葉のやりとりというよりも、目線やスマイルなど、非言語的なコミュニケーションを指すことが多いですね。

例:
The two men exchanged glances.
(男達は視線を交わした)

They exchanged a quick smile before they entered the room.
(彼らは、部屋に入る前に素早くほほ笑みを交わした)

あなたも、名詞でも動詞でも、文章を作ってみて下さいね。

それでは!
