Is luxury important to you? My friend in Portland, Oregon, runs
a course for women to discover the beauty in their lives again. The
course always sells out. The women that join the course usually
same something similar like, “I am surrounded by clutter” or “I want
more luxury in my life/in my home.” These women seem to
spend too much time and money on their families and not on themselves.

Is this a common thing for women in Japan, too? It seems that Japanese
women are very good at taking care of themselves, for example, buying
nice clothes and accessories, and having manicures and massages…
I can’t imagine that my friend’s course would be needed in Japan. What
do you think? Am I thinking of the “stereotype” of Japanese women?!

私の友達が、オレゴン州のポートランドで女性が美を再発見する、というコースを運営しています。
人気があり、いつも満席だそうです。
参加する女性はみんな、「ガラクタに囲まれているの」、「人生に(家に)もっと贅沢な品が欲しい」など、同じようなことを言うそうです。
こういった女性は、自分ではなく家族に時間やお金をかけ過ぎのようですね。

これは、日本の女性にも言えることでしょうか？
日本の女性は、良く自分を手入れしているように思います。
例えば、素敵な洋服やアクセサリーを買ったり、爪の手入れ、エステやマッサージなど…。私の友達が開いているコースは、日本では必要ないでしょうね。
あなたはどう思いますか？
それとも、私は日本人女性のステレオタイプを思い浮かべているだけでしょうか…もしそうだとしたらごめんなさい！:)
