A sentiment is a feeling or emotion that you say or write when you
are expressing your ideas. It’s a difficult word to use as a noun,
although you might have seen it as an adjective: sentimental.

Here are some example sentences as a noun:

I agree with the sentiments expressed by the mayor.
His message was full of sentiment.

As an adjective:

I’m feeling a little sentimental.
It was a very sentimental movie.
The photographs are of sentimental value only.
