What makes a person popular in Japan – I mean popular
enough to be a TV talent? In Australia, it is usually either because
they are good looking or very funny. Usually the people that appear
in comedy shows are very popular, but not necessarily good looking.

However, to appear in a TV drama or series, they usually need to be
good looking… it seems like this is the case for Korean dramas, right?
The men and women in those shows are generally popular because of
their looks, right? Unfortunately, I don’t really feel that way about TV
shows in Japan! The women are usually very attractive, but the men…
well, not so much!! Lol… The men are generally loud and very talkative,
and supposedly funny, but to be honest, I can’t see what makes these
men so popular!

Any ideas??

日本で好かれる条件は何ですか？
テレビタレントになるくらいの人気という意味ですよ。
オーストラリアでは、見た目が良いか、すごく面白いかのどちらかが人気者の条件です。

しかしテレビドラマなどに出演するには、見た目の良さが重視されますね。
韓流ドラマなどはそうではないですか？
ドラマに出てくる男女はルックスで人気があるのですよね？
しかし残念ながら、私は日本のテレビを見てそうは感じません。
女性は魅力的だとは思うのですが、男性は…あんまり、ですかね…(笑)
男性は、一般的にうるさくておしゃべり、そして面白い…のでしょうが、正直言って、なんで彼らが人気があるのかは分かりませんね！
