In this week’s “Word Mini Column”, today’s word was
picked up. It says to “remember to say thank you if you receive
praise.”

Are you good at receiving praise, or is it embarrassing? A lot of
Japanese people I know tend to play down any praise they
receive by saying, “no, no it’s nothing…” etc., rather than simply saying,
“thank you.” How about you?

(賞賛を受けたら、感謝するのを忘れずに)”と書いてありました。

私の知っている多くの日本人は、褒められてもお礼を言わすに、「いやいや…大したことではありません…」などと謙遜します。
