☆ opera　オペラ

When I was young, my parents had yearly membership to
the opera company, so every time there was a new opera
at the theater, we went to see it.

Sometimes the operas were in English, but mostly they were
in Italian, with subtitles. I didn’t like to read the subtitles, so
instead, before the opera started, I read the summary in the
guide book and then just “pretended” to understand what they
were singing. In fact, by pretending, I actually understood quite
a bit, because I concentrated on their actions and body language
which helped me understand better.

私が小さい時に、両親が「opera　(オペラ)」劇団の会員になっていたので、劇場に新しいオペラが来る度に観に行っていました。

時には英語のオペラもありましたが、ほとんどが字幕付きのイタリア語でした。
私は字幕を読むのが嫌だったので、オペラが始まる前にガイドブックに載っている概要を読んで、オペラの歌は分かったふりをしていました。
実際、分かったふりをすることで多少は理解出来るものです。
というのも、集中して彼らの動きやボディー・ランゲージを見ることが出来、より分かりやすくなるからです。
