A play is a story that is performed in a theater, on the radio,
or on TV. Here are some examples:

Hamlet is my favorite Shakespeare play.
My friend is in a play, would you like to go see it with me?
The play is supposed to be a comedy…

Drama groups and amateur acting groups are very common in
western universities. I often went to see my friends act in plays
when I was student. Is this common in Japan, too? Do you
ever go to see amateur plays?
