I never really knew this taste until I came to Japan.
Salty food to me makes me think of “fish and chips” where
the chips are covered in salt and vinegar. That is about the
only time when I purposely add salt to my food.

However, it seems like lots of food in Japan is described as
salty, right? What foods would you say are “salty”? Let me

この味は日本に来るまで、よく知りませんでした。
塩からい食べ物といえば、「fish and chips (フィッシュ・アンド・チップス)」を思い出します。
チップス（ポテトフライ）は塩とお酢だらけです！
塩をわざわざ足すのは、この時だけです。
