☆ clean-shaven　（ひげなど）きれいにそった

“Clean-shaven” is a very common word in English. However, I rarely see
Japanese men with beards or moustaches, so I guess this word
might not be used very often, right?

Even when some western men shave in the morning, by the end of the day
they have a “5 o’clock shadow”. It’s called a “5 o’clock” shadow
because basically that is the end of the working day, when the beard
usually starts to appear.

In the tall, dark and handsome man we talked about yesterday, a
5 o’clock shadow is usually considered sexy. On the other hand, on a
fair-haired man, or a man who is not very hairy, this shadow is sometimes
called, “bum fluff” and is not considered sexy. lol.

I don’t think I’ve seen many Japanese men with 5 o’clock shadows. Is
clean-shaven more popular in Japan?

でも日本の男性が、ひげや口ひげを生やしているのをそれほど見ないので、この単語はあまり使わないのではないでしょうか？

人によりますが、西洋人の男性が朝、ひげを剃らなかった場合、夜になると「five o’clock Shadow （夕方にひげが濃くなってくる）」になります。
「five o’clock （5時）」のシャドー、と呼ばれる理由は、一日の仕事が終わる頃にひげが目立ち始めるからです。

昨日、お話しした「tall, dark and handsome（長身で、浅黒く、ハンサムな人）」の「five o’clock Shadow 」は、とてもセクシーだと思われています。
一方、金髪の男性やそれほど毛深くない男性の「five o’clock Shadow 」は、「bum fluff（顔に生えた毛）と呼ばれて全くセクシーだと思われていません。（笑）

日本人の男性には「five o’clock Shadow 」をあまり見ない気がします。
日本では、ひげをきれいにそる方がポピュラーですか？
