This can be a dangerous word to use! If you tell
a woman that she is slim (yesterday’s word) she’ll
be very happy. However, if you tell her that she
is “skinny”… watch out! She’ll most likely be
angry!

Actually, skinny is not so negative, for example,
you can buy “skinny jeans” which are very popular.
But it’s probably not a good idea to use it when talking
to a woman – use “slim” instead. 🙂

実は「skinny（がりがりにやせた・ほそい）」という単語はネガティブでは無く、例えばあなたが買う「skinny jeans（スキニージーンズ）」はとてもポピュラーなファッションですね。
でも、女性に向けて話す場合に使うのは良いアイデアではありません。
