In English, sometimes the plural of a word has
a different spelling. For example, scarf and scarves.

・knife and knives
・one half and two halves
・one life, many lives
・one wife, many wives
・bookshelf and bookshelves

Theses are irregular nouns that end in “f” or “fe” and
it changes to “ves” for the plural.
