☆ learn to live with something ~に慣れる

============================

Although the Japanese translation is similar
to words we had earlier in the month (“adjust”
and “get used to something”) the nuance is a
little different and so is the usage.

In the case of today’s word, there is a negative
nuance attached to it. It is used when you don’t
really want to learn to live with something that is
painful, annoying or unpleasant, but there is no
other choice.

Here are some examples:

The doctor said I’m just going to have to learn
to live with poor eyesight.

My apartment in Tokyo is so small, but I have to
learn to live with it!

See you next month!

“adjust”(慣れる)と、“get used to something”(物事に慣れる)です。

The doctor said I’m just going to have to learn to live with poor eyesight.

My apartment in Tokyo is so small, but I have to learn to live with it!
