☆ embrace 選びとる

I think one of the best things of learning
another language is embracing the culture
of that language. The language itself can
be fun to learn, but learning about the
culture is also interesting.

Japan seems to embrace many different cultures
and easily assimilates the best parts into
Japanese society. I think this is a great skill
that not many countries have. English-speaking
countries don’t tend to embrace other cultures,
I guess because they feel they don’t really
need to. What do you think?

他の言語を勉強する楽しみの一つはその国の文化を選びとることだと思います。
もちろん言語を勉強すること自体も楽しいけれど、文化について学ぶのも楽しいですね。

日本は他の国の文化を選び取り、いいところを日本の文化に取り込むのがとても上手だと思います。
すごく素晴らしいスキルで、他の国はあまり持っていないものでしょう。
英語が母語の国ではあまり他の国の文化を選びとらないと思います。
たぶん、｢必要ない！｣と思っているのではないでしょうか。
