Today’s Word: integrity

☆  integrity  正直

============================

Stephen Covey, who I mentioned the other day, talks about integrity, and says that integrity means being honest and living according to your principles. You are loyal to your own beliefs.

He believes that we lose integrity when we make a choice or decision because we start thinking about whether we are being loyal to a person, or to our company, instead of deciding whether we are being loyal to our beliefs and principles. We think that it is important to prioritize the relationship and therefore lose integrity. In fact, this loss of integrity eventually has a negative effect on that relationship anyway, so it is better to be loyal to your beliefs and principles, rather than people and things.

What do you think about his idea? Do you agree with it? Is it hard to live with integrity in our modern fast-paced world?

Bye,

Chris
