============================

Carrying on from yesterday, useful words would be words that allow you to speak about a specific situation or specific topic that is important to you. For example, when talking about your leisure time, if you like playing a certain sport, then you should learn the vocabulary that is specific or special to that sport. Although most words might be similar, there are also words that you use when talking about American football, that you wouldn’t use if you were talking about cricket in Australia.

So, when choosing words to learn, it’s OK to start off with the Japanese words that you would use when talking about your specific topic, and then find a good translation for them. Some teachers say that you shouldn’t translate words, but how do you know what words you want to use if you don’t know what specific words you use when speaking in Japanese?

Bye,
