Today’s Word: comeback

☆  comeback  復帰

============================

When someone famous, such as a singer or athlete makes a comeback, they return to their profession or sport after being away. An athlete might make a comeback after an injury which people thought he wouldn’t make a recovery from.

Guns and Roses made a comeback this year, with their world tour. I haven’t heard any new music from them in many, many years, but their world tour was a successful comeback it seems. Although… is this the right usage of comeback? What do you think? If GNR plan to make more music now, then yes, it would be a comeback. However, maybe their plan is just to do a world tour to make more money, rather than make a comeback! What do you think?

I didn’t go to the concert, but I saw the tour t-shirt – it had both Adelaide and Tokyo written on the back. That was pretty cool I thought 🙂

Bye,

Chris
