☆ introduce 手ほどきをする

If you introduce someone to something, you help them to learn about it or experience it for the first time. When I was in high school I was studying French, however, a teacher introduced me to the Japanese language, and I loved it! She suggested I apply for a homestay, so I did and was lucky enough to be able to visit Himeji and Okayama for 6 weeks during my school summer holidays.
I had a wonderful time, and am so thankful to that teacher for introducing me to Japan and the Japanese language.
