☆ engross 夢中にさせる
============================
When you are engrossed in something you are totally absorbed and engaged in it. We often use this word to describe reading a book or watching a movie. “I was totally engrossed in the book; I didn’t realize I’d missed my train station.”
Last weekend, my kids and I watched the 1968 version of the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was such an old movie, and lots of singing, so I didn’t think my two boys would really enjoy it, but to my surprise they were completely engrossed in it! It’s a very long movie (2 hours 20 minutes!) so we needed to have a toilet break, but they still wanted to start watching again straightaway.
Have you been engrossed in something recently? What was it? How did it feel to be totally immersed in something?
Bye,
Chris
