☆ diversion 気分転換
============================
There are a couple of ways to use the word, “diversion” and today’s usage is the formal use. The formal use of the word “diversion” means an activity that you do for pleasure or amusement. However, the main way to use “diversion” is to describe something that attracts your attention away from what you are doing or concentrating on.
Can you see the connection between this main use and the formal use?
For example, if you have kids at home, if they are fighting with each other, then doing a craft activity, or turning on TV would be a diversion – in other words, it would be something for their pleasure and amusement (formal use), but it would also be attracting their attention away from fighting with each other. “Finger painting is very messy but an excellent diversion.”
