This week’s useful phrases include today’s word: “He is really influential in his industry.” The word can be positive or negative depending on how the person is being influential. For example, when I was in high school, many of my teachers were influential and affected my choices in many ways! One influential teacher recommended I do a homestay in Japan, so I had an interview and got to stay for six weeks in Okayama when I was 16 years old.
It was an amazing experience, but at the time I was studying French at high school!! So I really had no idea about Japan, but because my French teacher was not an influential type, I was never impacted by her ideas… and that is how I ended up going to Japan when I was 16 instead of France! I wonder how different my life would be if I’d gone to France!!
