☆ toast 乾杯
============================
Today’s word is a noun, and is commonly used in this way, “I’d like to make a toast to …” For example “to the bride and groom” or “to the newlyweds” or “to my mother/father/brother/coworker” and so on.
You can also “drink a toast” or “propose a toast” to someone or something, meaning that you drink some wine or other alcoholic drink as a gesture to show appreciation of someone or to wish them success.
Don’t confuse this word with the other meaning of “toast” which is when we put bread in the toaster in order to cook it. 🙂
Bye,
