☆ nervous 緊張した
============================
Many of my students say they feel nervous when they speak English. Here are two things to overcome feeling nervous:
1. Make sure you are fully prepared. (Of course! One reason we feel nervous is because we are not sure what is going happen, so if you are prepared, you can be more in control.)
2. Let yourself feel nervous! Yes, that’s right! Most of the time we try to “stop” feeling nervous, but instead, try saying something like, “Arrgh!! I feel so nervous! I’m sweating. My heart is racing!” And then just feel those feelings for 20 or 30 seconds. After a short time of really noticing your “nervous feelings” you’ll probably notice that you’re not feeling as nervous anymore.
So, in short; prepare as much as you can and then feel the feelings. Once you really let yourself “feel nervous” you’ll be back in control of your brain, and ready to feel more confident.
