☆ flame 情熱
============================
Today’s word is an informal way to refer to someone that you have (or had) intense passion for. For example, one of the useful phrases for this week, “He’s just an old flame.” This is something you might say if you wanted to explain that a person was an ex-boyfriend of yours. If you said this to a current boyfriend or husband, using the word “just” is probably important! “Just” can weaken the strength of the word, “flame”.
Of course, your intonation and body language can influence the meaning too. If you said, “He’s just an old flame” or “He’s an old flame” and your intonation and body language was wistful then the person you are talking to might wonder if you still actually love that old flame!
Bye,
Chris
