☆ trend 風潮
============================
A trend is a change toward something new or different. For example, “There is a growing trend towards equal opportunities for men and women.” Or “Thanks to market competition, there is a downward trend in airfare prices.”
The meaning of trend is the same as “tendency” but they have different grammatical uses. You can use “tendency” to describe the behavior of someone, or “for” a group “to do” something, however, you cannot use “trend” with a “for” and “to” infinitive. Here are some examples, where you can only use “tendency”:
The tendency for workers to go on holiday at New Year is increasing.
There is no tendency for working mothers to take more days off work than men.
And describing behavior:
She has a tendency to be a worrier.
She is very intelligent with a tendency to speak her mind.
What trends or tendencies are happening in Japan at the moment?
Bye,
