☆ accommodate  適応する
============================
Accommodate can be used in various ways. Today’s meaning is to adjust or change something so that it fits in. For example a company that believes diversity and inclusion are important will make sure that it accommodates people from different cultures. In practical terms, this could mean giving religious people a time or place to pray while they are at work. Or it might mean accommodating a person’s dress style that reflects their culture, but is not the norm.
Do you think that Japan accommodates the needs of foreigners living in Japan? When I first lived in Japan, there was a service called “welcome furoshiki”, which contained newspapers and other English information, and was delivered by a local resident – but not usually a Japanese person. The service still exists and seems like a good way to welcome people to Japan, what do you think?
