☆ direction  指示
============================
Yesterday I talked about the parenting book (the title is Smart But Scattered) and in that book, they talk about how to teach your kids to be more organized. One point is about being able to do their work without supervision. In the beginning they need supervision, then as they get more skilled, they’ll only need “direction” from you. And eventually they won’t need supervision or direction because they will be able to study or work on their own as their own “inner voice” is giving them the direction that they need.
It is the same for us as adults, our “inner voice” tells us what we need to be doing. So if we are sitting at our desk getting ready to study English, then our inner voice will give us “direction” and this is how we know what we want to study during that time. If you find it difficult to stay focused during time when you plan to study – for example, maybe your “inner voice” is telling you to check your email instead of studying English grammar! – then giving yourself some direction before you start can really help. You can do this by writing out a simple plan for what you are going to do. If you have 30 minutes of study time, how will you spend that time? If you write down a quick outline of how you will use the 30 minutes of study time, it will be a lot easier to stay focused and not get distracted.
Bye,
